Steps To Configure UNIX Clients (NRPE) on NagiosXI Server
Steps To Configure UNIX Clients on Nagios Server
1 Login on to the nagios server by the link http://172.30.1.24/nagiosxi. 2 You will get the username and password screen. 3 Enter the username and password and login into the server as shown below.
4 After login click on the button configure on the menu as show below
5 After that click on monitoring wizard button on the left side of the menu as shown below.
5 Select NRPE as the monitoring wizard and press the next button at the bottom as shown below.
6 Enter the IP address and select the type of operating system you are going to configure on the nagios and press the next button as shown below.
7 Enter the hostname and keep SSL encryption enabled by default as shown below.
8 Go at the bottom of the same page and there you will find the 10 option to configure the client service on the nagios server, at “remote NRPE command” option enter the service name that we have define in nrpe.cfg file of the client and “Display Name” option enter the name that you want to display at the nagios server, leave Command Args as blank as shown below.
9 After defining the service click on the next button and then click on the finis button and wait for the configuration verification do not change any of the other value for the host retry interval etc.
10 After the configuration verification again click on the configure button and the click on the link “enter nagios core configuration button” as shown below.
11 If it ask for username and password enter the username and the password.
12 Click on the option “service” on the left menu to configure more service as shown below.
13 After that you will find the option of “config name filter” there you can search for the hostname you have defined previously to configure more services as shown below.
14 click on the button add new at the bottom of the above page and you will get the option to enter a new service or to configure a new service on the nagios server.
15 For the common setting option on the top enter the following values.
16 In config name enter the hostname, service description enter the name of the service, from hosts select you hostname that you have defined earlier, in check command select check_nrpe, in args1 enter the command name that you have defined in the nrpe.cfg file and insert the template as generic-service no other thing is to be changed as shown below.
17 Click on check setting option on the top and enter Max check attempt = 5, Retry interval = 1, check interval = 5 and check period as 24*7 do not change any value as shown below.
18 Click on Alert Setting button and enter contact = nagios admin, notification period as 24*7 and notification interval as 60 as shown below
19 Click on Misc setting button and enter variable name=_xiwizard and variable value =nrpe and click on insert as shown below.
20 Click on save button at the bottom and all the configured setting will be saved for the one service
21 Similarly we can add as many services we want on the nagios server.
